Costa Rica

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

I went on holiday to Costa Rica in 2007 on the very first charter flight from the UK. It is an amazing country you can see both the Caribbean and Pacific waves from it highest point. It has everything to offer from lazy days on the beach to flying through the canopies both of which are a real treat.

Beaches are both black volcanic sand and golden white sands. There are loads of wild life in the surrounding areas which are amazing to listen to when relaxing and if you’re lucky one of the locals will take you on a tour and point out all the different species.

For those of you that like an adventure you’re in for an amazing experience as you can walk around the canopies of the rain forest on bridges or have a go at zip lining through them. I did both and loved everything about them. You get to see all different kinds of animals from howler monkeys to blue jeaned frogs. There are many of these canopies throughout the world and I have tried quite a lot of them and I have to say this is the most memorable and I am planning to return this year with my husband to experience it all over again. If your not into heights you can try horse riding and even white water rafting, again I did both and can’t wait to go back to do it all again.

You can visit Arenal which is a live volcano and you can stand at the bottom and see the lava run down the side. How often can you say you’ve seen that on holiday???

As evening entertainment is mainly centred around the hotels offer excellent entertainment packages however if you want to be able to go into a town try Tamarindo which is like a surfing town with plenty of bars and restaurants along the beach with a very chilled out feel. There is even live street entertainment and a few clubs the atmosphere here is fantastic and also great for surfers as it has waves from the Pacific.

When you’re out and about shopping make sure you get some of the local coffee. This has to be the best coffee in the world in my opinion and I brought loads home-another reason to go back, I need to restock!!!

Anyone thinking of going on holiday to Costa Rica must! It is a fantastic place, the people are so friendly and I can truly say this was one of, if not the best holiday I have ever had!!!There really is something for everyone, regardless of their ages!!!

My Agadir trip…

Monday, January 5th, 2009

We have recently returned from Agadir having had a great time.  I wasnt quite sure what to expect of the place in advance, but remained open minded and i’m glad I did.  We stayed at the Iberostar Founty Beach hotel which is beachfront and had an amazing lagoon-style pool - we couldn’t really fault the hotel, it was gorgeous - my only partial gripe was that the character of the hotel was a bit too sterile compared to other hotels such as the RIU Tikida Beach hotel down the road, but overall we were really happy.

We spent days soaking up the sun on the glorious stretch of sandy beach that seemed to go on forever - there was loads of space too as it was really wide & it was also very clean with a nice shallow slope into the warm sea…  We really wanted to do as many excursions as possible whilst we were there to make the most of the trip & there was plenty of activities on offer.  We took off on an adventurous camel ride (so uncomfortable!!!), another day we visited the epicentre of where the 1960 earthquake struck and we also spent an evening enjoying berber hospitality and entertainment, which was full of loads of singing and dancing.

Nights out could be as lively or quiet as you wanted them to be… we chose the lively option and headed to the nightclub ‘le central’ a few times, where we were later told that some of the ‘ladies of the night’ have been known to pop by!  But the best night out was the outside foam party, held on the beach at a beach bar.  A very wild night was had - it was great fun!  No matter where you go the people are so much more friendly the likes on Spain - they are very smily and genuine - I would recommend a holiday to Agadir to anyone.  Oh and try the Moroccan Lamb tagine - beautiful!!!
